Hello everybody from beautiful Shenandoah Valley, VA! My wife and I retired here in 2020. She passed away last year, and I took up woodturning to occupy my time. My wife had bought me a little 10 x 18 hobby lathe a few years earlier, but I never had much time to learn how to use it until now. I'm having a blast! Started out with some pen kits, but wasn't too long before I wanted to make some bigger stuff. Someone gave me some red cedar logs, and that was all the encouragement I needed.

Posting some pictures of some of my latest work. Looking forward to feedback and tips from the community.

Thanks! The pens were a great way to get started on the lathe, and I had a lot of fun with some of the blanks. The polka-dot one is one of my favorites. Maple blank, drilled and filled with dyed toothpicks.

Yup! That's the direction I was heading. Gonna need some help getting that 400# machine moved into my shop, tho'
Most come in parts to be assembled. but saying that the PM headstock is over 120# I think and headstocks are cumbersome to move but doable. So don't let that hold you back.
