Searching, I found great prices for a couple things, ordered, and the charge went not to that store but to a “Cristian Hernandez.” Store has a website but no phone number. They don’t return emails or messages. My product has not shipped even though credit card was charged. I’ll be disputing it with the credit card company tomorrow.

Here is what google AI says

According to a scam alert from Packard, a legitimate tool brand, the website engravingtoolstore.com is a fraudulent site
. Reports from other users and reviews also indicate that the site is a scam.

Charges reversed. Sad that one has to check out a site before buying. I’ll have to start doing that.
That's the state of things these days. It is sad. There have always been charlatans among us, they just have a wider reach and more anonymity now.

A site got me once on a Craftsman vacuum. I bought using PayPal and they went as far as shipping something (probably worthless) to another address in my zip code to negate PayPal dispute system. It was a mess, I had to have someone at the post office verify with PayPal on my phone that nothing was delivered to me.

I posted on this site that I wanted to buy a 1 inch colt Maxi cut forstner bit and I put my phone number in the posting. Next thing I know I’m getting a call from a scammer in New York or at least with the New York area code trying to sell me.

I’m lucky because it did turn out to be a scam, but AMEX wouldn’t process the charge and alerted me of a fraudulent transaction.

But I was dumb enough to fall for it and I thought I was really smart about that stuff

What did you enter in your search to find that? I can’t find it.
