If you don't find anyone who uses the forum in that part of the world, and you are an AAW member, you can check the member directory to see who might live in your area. (Hint: there's actually a member in Shingletown!)
That is one of the greatest perks of joining the AAW, a directory that you can search, by location, last name and more.
What happened to western Virginia, John? Just hope you got the best move for your family...best of luck!
I can't remember if there is a turning club there or not. Grass Valley used to have a club, and Redding is considerably bigger than that. I do have friends there, but they aren't turners... If you come to Eugene, let me know. I like play dates...
