Hi i am new to forums i have bean an aaw memeber for about 7 years and havnt touched a lathe for 4 years just got a new house and a lathe and some other toys and was wondering what is teh best way to gte back into things

Different ways to get back into it:
  • go to a local AAW club or other woodturning club and participate
  • pick up a book or a video for a technique you want (like bowl turning or pen turning)
  • design a starter project and give it a try
  • sign up for a woodturning class to get refresher info

aaw chapters listed here

Also just get out there and make shavings. Try cutting up scrap wood and refresh yourself on tool use. Like was said -- sign up for a turning class. Those are always useful... or better yet most likely you can find someone in a local AAW chapter who would be willing to just spend an afternoon with you and get you back into it. Good luck!
