I have been rebuilding my banjo mounted captured rig. Its capability will be around 300-350mm deep. This is first stage having welded up the main frame and given it some paint it 300x 250 overall . The actual bar will be composite of SHS 25x25x5 x 320mm square tube, stainless shaft 25mm dia that will be reduced to fit into the SHS a press fit, main bar will be offset turned to keep the whole set up in contact with the tool rest approx. 200x18mm. The previous was ungainly and very heavy, thrown together out of existing scrap on hand as is.
