Can anyone recommend a pen barrel trimmer that holds an edge and actually cuts? Cost is not a factor (no a Minimax doesn't fit the category!). I wish I could get a trimmer that was as sharp and would stay sharp.

Easy to sharpen

I'm only touching the side of the wheel, not the front.
Practice holding the mill to the wheel with the grinder off to get the feel of how it should be positioned.

The mill should sit flat to the wheel. Remember the difference between dull and sharp is only a few thousands of an inch.
If the mill is getting hot, you are grinding too much.

Jonathan: There is a guy on the IAP selling a model that is supposed to be very good. I don't use them, so can't comment.

Thanks

I have to admit, I have never sharpened my trimmer as it wasn't very good when it was new! But, I will give it a try. What's the model of the Tormek jig to sharpen these?;)

None that I know of, but should be easy to freehand with a Tormek
