A friend of mine has a bowl by Harry Nohr. Harry pioneered turning here in our area during the 60's and developed an epoxy finish using his kitchen oven in the process. She recently told me it had a crack in it and wondered if it would continue or not. I really don't know what to say. I suspect it's not a good thing. What would you tell her? In truth, this is the first case I've heard of one of his bowls cracking.

Wood will do what wood does......it moves with the temperature changes in the home, the weather and climate. You can't guarantee any wooden bowl will be stable 20 or 30 or 40 years from now.

Most will survive.......some will not! :(

Thanks, that's pretty much what I thought too. I'd certainly not want to mess with it. Consensus was to just leave it, keep it out of sunlight and in as stable environment as possible and enjoy it. Nothing is forever.
