This is the only example I have of a "Bowl From A Board" cut from a 2 species glue up and by staggering the layers slight misalignment is not a problem.Isn't there also an old woodworking trick of using a few grains of coarse salt to keep it from sliding?The one thing I can see working against you is the pieces creeping after you lined then up. I have learned from more experienced turners that you can let the rings sit for a bit after the glue is applied before putting them together to greatly reduce the chance of creeping.
