Bowl Kiln

I have a 12 x 24 insulated, vapor barrior room. I would like to turn this room or part of this room into a kiln to turned bowls. Any suggetions on what kind of equipment I need?

Hygrometer for sure. Even better, a humidistat. Then some way to increase warmth and circulate and remove damp air. If it's a large enough room, might even want to get a wet and dry side. Wet the first couple weeks to a month, dry the second and third, if required.

I put the wet ones on the concrete in the basement, and the dry on shelves, which is about the same thing.

a dehumidifier and something to control the temperature. 12x24 is a lot of bowls.

My best friend dries 4" thick rocking horse blanks in a room about the size your talking about. He just uses a dehumidifier.

How long does it take your friend to dry 4" think stock with a dehumidifier? Also, what is the species he is drying?

Or, more important, what's the relative humidity schedule for the moisture content.

FWIW, one year, with the last four months of it winter heating season will take 12/4 cherry below 10% in the interior in my basement.
