I'm new here as of today and have a question. A neighbor recently cut down several large citrus trees, (orange and grape fruit). I have several trunks that I cut and prepared for bowls. Early spalting is visible and the pieces are drying in my shop. Has anyone had success with turning citrus wood?

Green Citrus is one of the most pleasant woods to turn.

I should add that it sand blasts to a since pebbly Surface because it is so hard.

I'm looking forward to giving it a try. I've turned numerous bowls from cedar, oak, wild cherry, hickory, raintree, bradford pear, oak burl, and brazillian pepper tree as well as various lumber and numerous spalted varieties. I've never tried citrus. Should be interesting.
