I am also newly elected to Public Relations for our local club. We are looking at ways to expand our membership. We would like to get some more youth involved in woodturning. I am reaching out to 4-H, Scouts, and local schools. Any advice on how to get in front of younger folks? I am not just talking about High Schoolers, college age, young to middle age. I will take any hints you may have. Thanks.

Welcome Dan! Not many schools have shop any more around here. However, one at a school near me recently had 7 students create segmented bowls during a special January term. Contacting 4-H or Scouts may be a good way to go. Keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Dan! I don’t have any worthy ideas to offer, but I do like the idea. Given craft fair season is coming up, maybe you can set up some mini lathes and demo things like honey dippers, wands, etc… just a thought that might get younger folks interested. Keep us posted on your plans!

Howdy and welcome from Texas!!!!
