Hello AAW Forum, I am a new member here and turned my 1st (actually 3) pieces finished on Feb 14th of 2021. I bought a used Jet 1224 that sat in my shop for (oh my)over a year. Finally Purchased a starter set of Benjamin's Best tools and grabbed a random log from our small pile. The log was about 4" in diameter and was Eastern Red Cedar (Juniper) which I turned (pun intended) into a set of 3 (almost) matching candle holders. As my skills improved and the frustration level dropped I really started to enjoy this new hobby. After just 10 months of turning I now have a shop full of equipment and much better tools and...also a Jet 1642 lathe and canister filters on the dual bag dust collector. here are a few things I have enjoyed making and hoping ya'll take it easy on the Newbie.20211219_151527.jpg20211206_174225.jpg20211210_154314.jpg20211219_150835.jpg

Welcome to the forum, Dave. Juniper is a beautiful wood that is easy to turn but be sure to use adequate respiratory protection because juniper/cedar is a sensitizer that can cause respiratory problems.

Welcome to the Forum! I would highly recommend that you try to find an AAW club. You will learn a lot faster, safer, and make a ton of friends that would be willing to help you on your journey.
Thank you Emiliano, I joined the local chapter here about six months ago and they have several "Senior" Woodturners that have been very helpful when I ask their advise on issues I have.
