Guys,

I've made a DIY version of ellsworth jig but the grind is not exactly what I expected.

How long is a leg on original ellsworth jig?
What are dimention(HxWxL) of "box" part of the jig?

If you do a search for King Heiple sharpening system this set up is close to the Ellsworth jig. King made this homemade sharpening system years ago for Northcoast Woodturners and has published articles in different Magazines.
 
The recess where the tool holder tip goes is 7" from the face of the wheel and 4" below the wheel centerline. The tool protrusion is 2" beyond the tool holder face. Oh and the length of the leg on the tool holder is to be such that you get a 60 degree angle on the wheel.

The grind you get can be changed a lot by moving your pivot point. Mostly the angle. How much sweep back you get depends on how much you roll it to the side. Geometry can also be changed by how much the gouge sticks out from the jig. Mine is 2 inches. I just alligned the nose angle, and let the sweep determine itself.
