finishing options

The picture didn't get posted.

You know, Bill......

I think he was asking for suggestions about finishing for a Bocote bowl.

This is a coincidence, because I just happen to have a Bocote bowl on my lathe right now. It's finished with Watco Danish oil natural, but is still attached to the waste block. The thing about Bocote, is it's such a naturally oily wood. It clogs sandpaper very quickly, but I don't see any reason to change my usual method of finishing......

I've done Bocote bowls before, and have finished them with DO, with satisfactory results.....works for me.

I'm headed out to the shop right now, and will try to get a pic.....

Doh! I think that you might be right. I've only turned a few small things from Bocote. It is a beautiful wood. I don't recall that I did anything other than polish the wood with Micromesh.

Cwearing, arre you having a finishing problem or just asking what finish others use on Bocote?
