Well done. You survived even with the pith in the middle of your bowl. As a note the appearance of cracks is reduced if you will cut out the pith. The pith shrinks faster than the rest of the log and will result in more likely to lead to cracks . Taking out the pith does reduce bowl size and is a consequence of this procedure.

Spalted Norway Maple crotch
Finish GF 181 pre cat
Cracks filled with CA

This is my very first bowl. I've not turned a hollow form before.
{{for whatever reason, when I use the "Insert Image" option the photobucket links I used return as invalid format}}

The problem is an illegal HTML character in the URL for your Photobucket images. Web addresses are not supposed to contain the space character because they will invariably create confusion about the end of the URL. What happens is that your browser tries to "fix" these errors by replacing the space character with its ASCII equivalent, %20. However, that confuses Photobucket and the result is an invalid format error and no image to display.

This is one of those things that nobody tells you about, but is something for you to remember for the future so that this doesn't become a persistent problem with displaying your hosted images on this and other forums. If there is a workaround, I haven't found it because vBulletin won't allow me to enter a space or plus sign.

Raul, that is quite a first bowl effort!

I can remember the first time I tried to turn a bowl. It flew across the shop and broke into smithereens! A complete disaster. Very nice work on a beautiful - but demanding - piece of stock.

First bowl? Nice! I'm looking forward to #47 bowl. Thanks for sharing the turning and the picture.
