Hi, I don't know if anyone would be interested in this, but I'll put it out there. I needed a place to put photos of my work so my family could see them and tell me how great I am. I'm not trying to be part of the Meta PII suck so instagram is off the table. After some analysis, the criteria of which I have no recollection, I decided to use flickr. People can view the photos without having to join flickr, which is what I wanted.
I know folks share posts here in the gallery. Some folks probably use etsy to display their work, or their own website. IDK. I use flickr. So on flickr I created a group called "woodturning group" as "woodturning" was both taken and private. If anyone else uses flickr and wants to share on that group that would be great. Currently I'm the only member and I really enjoy the space, the freedom, the quiet, but I'm willing to give that all up if others want to join.
Or if anyone wants to just look at my work and tell me that it sucks and my photos are worthy of a 3 year olds efforts that would be nice too :)
p.s. I think it sucks that they don't put the name of the group in the url ( or the name of the person in the url )
p.p.s if there is some other platform that some number of people use I'd be happy to join that instead (instagram excluded)

I use Imgur for simple photo sharing on here so I can link to a longer slideshow.

For social media I have started using Bluesky. Overall I have had much more engagement in a short time on Bluesky than years on Instagram (and fewer spam bots). At the moment they have a 4 image limit so you can't post that much at once. They did just expand videos from one minute to 3. You need to include some hashtags so people can find your posts. There are different "feeds" you can subscribe to that aggregate similar hashtags. You can also create your own feeds but I haven't looked down that rabbit hole yet. They are also developing a media specific platform called "flashes" but it's not much different from just using Bluesky right now.

Man those are some great photos. Some how it's more interesting looking at random photos when you "know" someone.
I particularly like the ones of you at Woodstock back in 67 :)

Those weren't Woodstock, they're from the Ann Arbor Blues Festival. ('69 or '70) I was only 6 or 7at the time, but I'm a huge blues fan. Learning that the very first blues festival was in my hometown, on the grounds of my high school, and remembering seeing the crowds as we drove by, is pretty darn cool.

I had forgottren how many photos I have on there. I clicked "Photostream" and my high school playing their season opener in Michigan Stadium was pretty cool. They got creamed, but it was fun to be in "The Big House" again.

Lol. I figured that wasn't woodstock. Ann Arbor is good town, I've know lots of people from there. It's funny those salient moments from childhood. I still remember them filming "breaking away" in my home town when I was super young.
