Earlier several members that are also regulars on this forum agreed to try to meet on Wedneday night, 8PM in the Galt House Bridge Bar. Just thought I would bump this as a new thread in case anyone missed it before. Not sure how we will find each other, maybe we should carry a laptop or something? Anyway, I'll be the Floridian looking guy with a grey ponytail and beard, with a cold draft in my hand. I hope all of you attending will be able to drop in. I would offer to buy the first round but with record attendance at the symposium I'm afraid all 2000 will show up looking for a free refreshment :o

I was going to offer that if people wanted to put faces to names they could meet by my table that I will be having at the symposium. We could meet after the last demo each day. Just a thought. My table is Vince's WoodNWonders.com and I will be located (from what I have been told) towards the front of the room close to the front doors. Vince

OK, we could bring our favorite skew with our screen names written on it to wave in the air at new faces as the enter? Of course I am sure the hotel security would be getting nervous as the crowd grows waving sharpened steel weapons in the air to get the waitress's attention. ;)
 
Didn't turn gray it turned loose

I guess you're talking about the one we corresponded on earlier. What about those of us that weren't lucky enough to have gray hair, mine turned loose. I guess we can just look for a table of woodturners maybe?

In a rare turn of events SWMBO will be at the symposium with me, ensuring that I do not get into trouble. We are both excited to see the 3 exhibitions which open that night. By 8pm we might be toast though and we'll swing by.
 
Dumb Question?

Has anybody here been to "the bridge bar" at the Galt? The place is called Al J's and I merely assumed it would have adult beverages available when I made the initial suggestion. I'd be 9#$@ed to show and only have carrot juice available. The other place in the hotel is the "Jockey" bar (imagine that!), but I have no idea of the location as it doesn't seem to show up on the floor plan on the Gault site.

How's 'bout it? Is Al J's the where?
 
I don't know about the specific name. But it is a pretty obvious "bridge bar". It is on a huge walkway that goes from the hotel to the demonstration rooms and the restaurant. As you enter the hotel it is just hanging up there above the street bridging the two buildings.

While I did not actually partake a beverage there, rest assured that they serve adult drinks. There is a huge lounge area. And the roof and sides are mostly glass. Quite an engineering feat when you see it.
