Hartford Symposium Promotional Video

Browser can't open the Video

Hi Ed, I wanted to view the Hartford Video, but when I tired to open it my choices were save, or let windows find a program to open it and I chose to do this and windows couldn't find anytyhing. So how do I get to view the video.

You probably have Windows Media Player on your PC - you need to associate the file type "MP-4" with that application so the video will start up automatically. In case you're running an old version of Media Player, you can get a free update to Media Player 11 here.

Associate the file type (mp4 extension) with the Media Player application. Or, save the file to your hard drive and then open the file you saved with the Media Player application: file/open/somewhere on your hard drive.

I should have stated in the first email that I did this (all that you said above) but all I get is the sound and no video. Got me stumped.

I found this and it made it work.
Microsoft Windows Media Player

Unfortunately Windows Media Player does not support MPEG-4 videos as it is installed from Microsoft. Here are steps to enable MPEG-4 videos in Microsoft Windows Media Player. Once complete MPEG-4 videos should play.
  1. Go to http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download.htm.
  2. Download the most recent K-Lite Codec Pack FULL version. (e.g. as of 8/10/2006 the latest version is 2.74).
  3. Run the downloaded K-Lite Code Pack executable (e.g. file name for 2.74 is kdodec274f.exe).
  4. Use all the default settings during the installation.
  5. Once installed run start > All Programs > K-List Codec Pack > Configuration > Code Tweak Tool
    1. Check Detect broken codecs.
    2. Click Next.
    3. Click the Finish button.
Now MPEG-4 videos should work in the Windows Media Player.



This made it work for me.
