I use a Lee Valley dowel maker with custom madrels to size the metric dowels. I then turn contrasting finials. I use different woods on the finials for different sizes. If the customer buys 4 sizes, they get 4 different colored finials to help them find matched sets.

I've been reading a lot of complains about wooden needles warping from people in knitting community.

What about making a needle from several segments of different wood to minimize warping?
Will butt joint be strong enough on such long and thin piece?
