How to make incredible finial

Yes they do, Stuart Mortimer has a great book on how to do that. It is called"Techniques of Spiral work" I think it is about $25.00.

I also have Stuart's book. It's excellent. Mostly it's just a matter of proper layout and then use whatever tools you have to remove the wood. I use a drill in a jig on the lathe along with an index wheel to remove a lot of the waste. Then just refine the cuts with chisels and rasps.
