I was looking at his tools and saw that in addition to his straight and bent hollowing tools, he has one with an articulated head. Does anyone have experience with it and what do you think of them. I'm looking to expand my arsenal of hollowing tools as I find myself doing more hollow forms that bowls.

You have hollowing experience, do any of your tools have the cutting edge very far away from the shaft CL? This alignment can generate significant torque, and that torque can vary quickly, almost instantly. A problem if cutting by hand, not a problem for captive/articulated systems.

I’m sure its a well made tool but I would not use it hand held, having used tools with offsets from CL. I know Ellsworth promotes offset tools, I just dont like them.

I have one and I use it with one of my hollowing systems and have used it on small hollow forms, I have the 3/8” version and have gone about 5 1/2 deep. With articulation it’s possible to do the whole hollow form with just one tool. Because I generally make hollow forms I haven’t had a reason to use it hand held.

Hmm, not sure which one it is the only really offset tool I can see is the adjuster tool. It has a short articulated arm by the look of it around 25-30mm long. Being a short arm and not swinging it fully keeping under 45' I cant see too much of an issue. There will be some torque and if you stick to soft wood etc should be fine. All his other ones with goose neck type bends have the cutting point aligned with the centre of the tool bar so there wont be any torque.
