To all the folks here that take the time to share knowledge and information so freely.
I use the search function almost daily and usually find an answer to my questions.
Looking at different threads, I get answers to questions I don't know enough about to ask.
:)
I am enjoying that used Jet lathe I bought though.
And have been buying new / used tools and equipment as I find the need.
If I'd known or thought I was going to become interested in wood working, I would have built my garage bigger to hold all the new to me tools and equipment I didn't know I wanted.

Lol I think many of us have started small only to find we misjudged the passion. :)

Ha! When I started woodturning I had a 16x16 stand alone shop already loaded with a bunch of tools. Moved to this farm and squeezed everything into 1/2 of a 2-car garage with 2 lathes, a bandsaw, radial arm saw, planer, jointer, and wood storage - WAY too tight! After I got the farm fencing, barn, some outbuildings and and stuff done I FINALLY built a shop from scratch. (I tell people I built it with my bare hands but I lie - I used tools.) Built it 24x62' to fit the spot I picked out. Granted, it's not all woodturning - wood storage, flat woodworking, office, welding room, little machine shop, farm stuff, but it's still too small now. I'm now in the process of downsizing some - gave away some lathes and other tools which helped. I'd like to add on to the building but I'm out of energy.

There have been threads on how people organized things to fit things into available space. I do best if I draw out the space to scale on a large piece of paper then make paper cutouts for everything and slide them around to find the best layout - I think this is quicker than cad and easier to visualize.
