I've been admiring the work of several turners who use iridescent paint to embellish platters, and have often wondered if the technique would work on something not flat. So here ya go...first attempts on a maple throw-top. The paint used is undiluted Chroma Craft Acrylic Cloud gold & blue, and white & violet over a black alcohol dye base-coat. The texturing was achieved using a gloved index finger, spreading the paint around, then letting the lathe turn at its slowest speed for 30 minutes while the paint cures.
