Hello all and thanks for adding me to this forum. I'm from Ohio recently retired from the healthcare technology sector and started turning about just over 2 years ago. After turning on a mini lathe in the garage I have expanded to a dedicated shop and upgraded much of my equipment. I currently turn on a Jet 1640. I also recently completed my first juried art show which was a great experience. I turn bowls, ornaments, and other functional items but my real passion is in hollow forms and vases. All of my work is from locally salvaged wood and with very few exception all finishes are eco-friendly. I have tinkered a bit with embellishments and, after some great advice from an accomplished power carver, have ordered a an iCube micromotor to replace my 40 year old Dremel. I'm not a member of a local group but follow many of the master turners on YouTube. I have attached a photo of my shop and a few recent turnings.
