Hello to everyone! My name is John DeLeo and I've been woodturning for about 2 years.
My son got me a mini lathe when I retired and after a few projects I was hooked. I've since upgraded to a large lathe and am in the workshop most days.
I enjoy turning bowls, vases, and just about anything the wood ends up being.
I look forward to learning and talking woodturning with everyone.

Hi John, welcome from Chattanooga! Those are some nice pieces you posted—in particular, I like that ambrosia maple vessel in the third photo.

Welcome John. Nice work you have. Is that a 1840 I see there? How do you like it? I’ve had mine 5 months ( my retirement present to myself) and I’m very happy with it.

Thanks Paul, yes that's a 1840. I've had it for about 2 years and find that it does everything I need.
I did add a swing away for the tail stock. I find turning in the center of the lathe by sliding the head stock over much more comfortable. Being able to get the tail out of the way helps too.
I also added some cement blocks to the bottom to help with stabilization.
Take care.
