received my journal today, sort of flipping thru it when i saw vessel with a carved spine, turned and carved out of oak very nice Liam Flynn :D
 
Liam's work looked interesting, but I would rather make a different style. I did like how he used chemicals to make the wood black though.

That's what it is all about. See something and either "how did they do that", "how can I do that differently" or "now I know what I want to do". Use it as an inspiration and show us the results.
Kind of like I trip over a chunk of wood in the shop for months then I finally look at is and think, that's what I want to do with it. Success or failure learn from it and progress.
