Hello and thanks for having me. I have been turning ( Learning) for about 4 months now. I bought a used Oneway lathe model 1236. I am forunate to belong to a local woodworking club that has many wood turners willing to share their knolwadge. All of my practice bowls have been made from kiln dried lumber. I am looking forward to getting into turning green wood and maybe some segmented work down the road.

Hello Michael, Happy to share. I made the banding and it's about 1/6" thick. You can buy banding but it's much thinner and limited in available patterns. I used a parting tool to cut a groove in the bowl, just slightly deeper than the thickness of the banding. Where the two ends meet I used a scarf joint. To glue the banding in place I used a piece of small of rope wrapped arount the banding. To tighten the rope and put pressure on the banding, I used a screw driver and twisted the rope. Think tourniquet. When the glue is dry I sanded the banding flush. Here's another bowl I did. Keith IMG_20230320_141948186.jpg
