Lacquer Application

Off the lathe, in a spray booth designed to exhaust the solvent fumes appropriately, or outside. I use a touch-up HVLP gun from Qualspray that works quite well for small objects like turnings. You'll want a turntable or lazy susan to rotate the object as you work. With lacquer you only need to wait a couple minutes between flipping it to do the inside and outside.

I do similarly with the addition of rotator stands.

With the threaded lid urn I hold them with a threaded adapter that has a 1/2" dowel imbedded in it and that can also be mounted in a chuck to finish turn the base of the urn or the finial lid.
For bowls I have a dovetail recess in the base that accepts a two jaw expansion chuck. The bowl can be rotated on the chuck between coats so that all areas of the recess get finish.
