My brother and I were given some cottonwood bolts from a huge tree that fell when the nearby creek eroded its support. We had to use the chainsaw to cut a bolt in half to be able to load it in the Subaru. In the shop I glued on a large waste block , roughed the blank so it would clear the ways and cored out 4 bowls. This is the largest bowl after drying for 2 years and re-turning. The loose knot hole is filled with turquoise Inlace (no longer available) and wood burned with the cottonwood leaf. Just a little of the chatoyance shows in the photo. The 22" finished diameter was near the limit of the lathe.
