Lathe cleaning

I've used both Trend bit cleaner (mostly to get residual sap/extractives from wet turning off) and DNA to clean my Robust, but it has a pretty solid powder coat finish. The DNA gets a lot of stuff off that I thought was permanent. A hit of acetone seems to help with old CA residue, too, but I'm judicial with it and don't leave it in contact too long.

How is the tool cleaner with the enamel? I have been picking up an increasing amount of shellac and a few spots of CA on my PM banjo in particular, and I've been wondering the same thing. I think DNA should work for the shellac, but the CA...I am really wondering about. I don't want to use acetone, as I greatly fear that will strip the enamel in the long run.

Is it possible to contact tech support to find out what the finish is on the lathe and solvents you can use?

It would also be helpful to know what finish(es) you are trying to remove.
