In addition to belonging to the Central Arkansas Woodturners, I am a member of a local woodworking club that makes about 500 toys a year, for the underpriviliged kids in our area.

I am looking for some ideas of toys that can be lathe turned to add to this years cache of Christmas toys. We already have plans for tops. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The Beefeater - a string pull toy

this is a string pull toy from the UK. pull the string and the legs dance up.





the body is two parts seperated by small dowels. the arms and legs pivot on the the dowels when the string is pulled. the legs can be made in 2 parts with a small brad at the knee as the axle.



 
A ball is a great toy. I know it sound to simple but the fact is a ball is still a lot of fun. A bat is a good toy. Tinker toys. Spinning wheel. Yo-Yo. Wheels for toy cars....
