I've been looking for approximately 3" (w) x 3" (d) x 4" (h) mpingo / african blackwood turning blanks, preferably all black, for a while with little to no luck. Anyone know where I can find anything along these lines?

--e (appologies for the general broadcast, but my previous attempts to find this have failed and I'm getting desperate to turn again :) )

Hibdon hardwoods

Hibdon hardwoods will have what you need. I have seen blackwood logs there up to 10" in diameter. They import logs and saw them on site. Last time I bought from them the cost was $56 per bd/ft. The prices change often so I would call them.

Try West Penn Hardwoods. They have a website www.westpennhardwoods.com they have African blackwood in various sizes. They didn't have it that exact lenght but did have it longer lengths.

I bought some beautiful African Blackwood for West Penn last summer at the Symposium in Kansas City. Wonderful stuff.

John :)
