Hi all, another newbie making it official. I’ve been turning for a year and exploring the AAW forum for ideas and insights. Sending a giant THANK YOU to all who have shared their experience and knowledge in this wonderful form of woodworking. I’ve been hand carving spoons and am happy to transfer some of the spoon work to the lathe.

My shop is really a small space under our sunroom, open to the elements. I rebuilt a Delta 1460 that tracks back to 1944, and I love it. Rebuilding it helped me really understand how the lathe works and what the abilities are with a machine this size. I had to bail on the shop once Connecticuts winter set in so I bought a Rikon Mini to keep me busy...using a small corner of our boiler room to turn.

Attaching a couple of pics of the Delta in my “shop” and a lidded box I recently turned. Again, thanks for all the insight gained here...you guys may not realize how much it helps...but it does. One quick shout out to the local club I joined, the Nutmeg Woodturner League. Meeting and learning from these friendly folks has been great.

Welcome! You are on your way! Nice turnings but my favorite is the pen on the far left of the photo. Kit name? Wood? Finish?
