Hi all, I am in Scotland in the Cairngorms, I have dabbled at woodturning for over 20 years I used to work on historic buildings in England and made pieces for buildings when needed. In the past couple of years I have concentrated more on turning...mainly wood but occasionally I get adventurous and turn stone (very messy and not good for the lathe I expect) 15lbs of granite spinning on the lathe.
I only use materials I forage locally I don't see the point of fancy named exotics when beautiful timber can be found anywhere. I love the pictures of clean tidy workshops and studios, mine definitely isn't but the shavings on the floor keep my feet warm!
