new mini lathesHas

Are these available? Contacted Axminster directly and was referred to a distributor
in Australia for a 16” x 28” 406 model. The Woodturning Store in NY is their only “authorized” accessories dealer and was told they don’t import lathes to USA. Bought a Harvey Turbo T-40 instead.

Has anybody tried the Axminister 14 " mini lathe?
Ahh, there's the problem, the lathe is an Artisan.

I don't have any personal knowledge, but I did note in briefly reviewing the description that the minimum speed is 250 RPM. For me, that's fast. Given the asking price I'd definitely want to compare it to the Jet 1221 EVS.

I have a Nova 14 DR and its lowest speed is also 250 rpm. That has not been a problem at all, it has handled everything I have thrown at it and has been used for hands on classes now for several years with no complaints. The Nova is very similar to that Artisan in most respects, I would never say it is better but it is a lot cheaper. That stand in the Craft Supply video sure looks like the Wen stand sold by Walmart for $106 (I have three midi lathes on those Wen stands and they work quite well including the Nova 14 DR). Just checked the price and the Wen is $93 cheaper :)
