Bought this 4" chainsaw on a Menards Flash Sale for less than $23. The saw, 2 chains, and 2 batteries. It's so cute! LOL I'm going to try it for bowl texturing and maybe trim a few things outside. I see you can get them on Amazon for $39. If you think about buying it, be aware that there isn't even a safety switch on the trigger. Buy at your own risk and I have no data on quality yet. All I know so far is that it runs just out of the box.

I know you know how to operate a saw safely.

For anyone not well versed in chainsaw use, an accident with this saw can be catastrophic.
It is quite similar to the chainsaw discs in an angle grinder. A safe carving tool when used correctly.
Deadly when not.

With either tool you can generate a kickback where you loose control of the tool.
This little saw looks like it has a kickback break that might make it a bit safer than the angle grinder but not much.

There was a good discussion on chain saw carving wheels. Including some scary accidents.

I have used the Lancelot many times. Always with Two hands and the work piece secured.
Be safe.

For texturing I'm just going to let the chain bounce on the wood. I will not be carving. I think the first time I saw that was from Stoney Lamar. My chin hit the floor when he pulled out a chainsaw in a demo. The nose of the bar didn't come close to the wood. Here is a slightly deeper texture, but done with a chainsaw, on a freestanding piece I did for an art show. Its title was "Monolith". It was absolutely an off center propeller dishing out the concave bits and adding the partial rings.
