new tool

CrushGrind Groove Cutting Tool

Dave - The tool is designed for use with CrushGrind mechanisms - with and without shaft. You don't need this tool to make salt/pepper mills using the CrushGrind mechanism. See http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/woodturners/Images/pdfs/crush_grinder.pdf.

Here's a note I got from Brian Fitzsimmons at Constable Woodcrafts:
"Hi John,

The Sorby groove cutters have just arrived and I can confirm that the total cost, including post and packing will be £38.50 (UK Pounds 38.50). This is for the "signed for delivery"

If you wish to proceed, please send a PayPal payment to my email address and I will post within 24 hours.

Best regards,

Brian."

Price = $62.65 delivered to US address.

I have made many mills using the CrushGrind mechanism without this groove cutting tool. The groove cutting tool would make mill manufacture and assembly easier, but it is not necessary for successful mill manufacture. - John

I took a look at the tool on the web site. It is a fairly simple tool that you could make yourself by just buying a flat tool such as a scraper and grinding it to meet your needs. However, I agree that there is nothing essential about needing that particular tool to make a peppermill -- it just simplifies the process a bit.
