Measuring a 6.3 at the height of a busy workday, and the second major quake there since September. Hoping our Kiwi friends are OK. News should be easy to find, but here's one place to get started (AP story on Yahoo!).

Soren Berger

I just got a short email from our New Zealand friend and fellow woodturner Soren Berger that he and his family are fine.
They are without power, water and sewage but the structural damage in his neighborhood is not too bad.
However, he said that his town of Christchurch was completely destroyed.

I asked him to keep in touch and I will update this post when I hear more.

Tim
