Odie
Panning for Montana gold, with Betsy, the mule!
I have a Oneway bowl steady for sale.
It's new in the box, and everything is there, as shipped by Oneway. Everything is brand new, except the post.
The post has been cut down to a level that is suitable for a 16" lathe. I used this post for more than a decade, and it shows it.....but, is in perfect usable condition otherwise. From the bottom of the base to the top of the post measures 8 3/4", and is the perfect size for a lathe with a 16", or less swing. The reason the post has been shortened, is because when the bowl steady is positioned on the back side, the adjustments are easier to make without the tall post being there. The Oneway bowl steady is an important element within the equation of finding the "perfect tearout free cut".
As with the original Oneway bowl steady, it does not come with the clamp block. These are readily available online in the correct size for your lathe.
You may not see any difference at all by using the OBS, because although it does indeed help achieve the perfect cut, it's a component of an equation that is necessary for achieving it. The OBS helps me achieve the perfect cut, but your results will depend on other factors in conjunction with taking advantage of it's ability to improve your cut straight from the tool. IOW, it's up to you to make it happen!
The OBS is something I use on every single bowl I make, and I feel it is an indispensable part of my search for the perfect cut...
$100..... shipping included to lower 48.
