I do not see the possibility of posting a photo in the groups posts. Am I missing something?
Also is there a way to get an email or something when somebody posts something on the group one belongs to?

I don't see a problem posting pictures. Here is one I posted several days ago in the Robust group.

The answer to your second question is yes -- or at least the feature is supposed to work. Go to your preferences and there you can select if and how you wish to be notified of posts in any group that you have joined. I haven't tested it to see if it works because I already get more email than I care to get --I have no interest in getting more email to clutter up my inbox.
 
Thank you. I really should have noticed the big add photo functionsince I've used before...
As far as being notified of new post I could not do it. I'll try again.
