Since I upgraded my 16yr old Woodfast lathe to a variable speed drive last year, there have been untold times when I wondered what speed range the pulleys were in. The only way to find out is take a look, but knowing instantly is........well, uh, better! :D

I put some yellow sticky dots on the top side of the motor controller, each is marked with the speed range of the pulleys. I then put an orange sticky dot on the top side of a spring clip with an arrow marked on it. The spring clip can be moved to the appropriate position along the cooling fins......therefore pointing at the appropriate speed range........now, I'll never have to wonder what speed range the lathe is in again.

Is this a big deal?......no, of course not.......but, after having done it, I'm glad I did. It's a little convenience that has come in handy......over and over again! :cool2:
