The quill in this tailstock is extremely difficult to crank in or out. I took it apart as much as possible and had to beat out the quill from the back using a wood dowel and a hammer. It acts as though the quill lock is tightly engaged. The quill slides in easily until it contacts the lock.
Does anybody know of the quill lock collar that the black arrow points to is supposed to float free when the handle is loose or removed?
Thanks.
