Well, as always, with any symposium, it is kind of information overload, and if you have been to one, you know. Biggest take away came from Eric Lofstrom. I had never thought about doing this with box blanks, but did use this for a mattarello, which is a 3 foot long by about 1 1/2 inch diameter rolling pin for making pasta sheets. I started with a 3 inch diameter maple baseball bat blank, and turned it down over about 6 months, about 1/4 inch or so at a time, and each time, letting it 'adjust' in between turnings. Eric does this with his boxes. I like the long tenon boxes that take 1 to 5 or so seconds for the bottom to drop off when you lift by the lid. Got to see Nick Cook who I had not seen before, and a few other people.

It still baffles me that I never considered turning my box blanks down in stages.... AAW in Portland next summer!!!! I will see if I can be a demonstrator.
