My name is Perry Savino. I have been a woodturner for 1.5 years. I had always wanted to learn; and I was hooked after my first into classes. I work at improving my skills, and I’ve been struck by the help and support freely offered to this newbie.

I am a lifetime tinkerer, woodworker, and wannabe mechanic/welder. I work in the medical/mental health field, so all of these let me disconnect from work. Thanks again for all the help and encouragement.

Welcome aboard, Perry. Thanks for the kind words to our helpful members. It's always good when people hear that their help is appreciated. Sharing information is a defining characteristic of woodturners. We were all beginners at one time or another, and we learned from woodturners who freely shared their knowledge of woodturning. Now, it's our turn to pay it forward.

I'll second the motions made by Alan and Bill above. You've taken classes and I encourage taking additional classes. I find classes are the most effective way to learn new and polish existing skills. I'll be taking my next class from Eli Avisera next week (practicing what I preach). You didn't mention being a member of a local woodturning club. I strongly recommend doing so. I belong to four. I find the return on investment of dues very high. The national AAW organization has an extensive inventory about all things woodturning. I am also a member of AAW.

Welcome again and safe turning.
