Glenn - I have an old Wagner pinless moisture meter that I think works better than some of my buddies pin type. I find that it penetrates deeper than the pin type, particularly in hard wood. I do not think Wagner makes one anymore but I think General does.
Glenn, I bought a General MM pin type from Home Depot and have been very satisfied with it.
