poly on end grain

just finished turning an end grain goblet and the end grain on the bottom of the inside just sucked up the poly. did i forget to do something or do i need to keep applying the poly
 
And you need to leave alot of drying time following your final coat since there will be alot of finish soaked into the wood that will be at least partially sealed by later coats before it can set. I've noticed in end grain pieces (especially with thick spots such as where the stem connects with the bowl) that the color and finish can take up to a month in a warm, dry place to fully stabilize.
