My lathe runs at all speeds but shuts down when placed under a load. It returns to operation when “reset”, but again quits when loaded. What do I need to repair or replace?

I have operated this lathe for several years, always at the same belt setting as it is now. It started to kick out after being idle for about 7 mo. The kickouts have gotten progressively over the last 4 days. Now it will not carry any load.

I would call Powermatic Tech Support, could be something simple.

It might be your VFD controller or the program in it dropped out. Also check switch for dust to inhibit power as well as check power source (wall) for proper amperage. If on a double breaker did one trip out causing feed to only be 110.

Last time I talked to PM, I got a tech who was reading from a manual. I would suggest calling a local electrical company/repair place and ask them.
