A woodturning buddy and I just rescued a Powermatic model 90 from the flood waters of New Orleans. The headstock was out of the water, but by only 2".
I'm looking for a manual on the Powermatic 90 to assist in rebuilding the lathe.

I will gladly pay for copies and postage, Thanks for the help.
 
Very old Powermatic

I failed to mention that this is a fairly old powermatic with a Reeves drive. The old Green and yellow version.

I would first go to Sam's and buy a couple of gallon containers of WD40 with their spray bottles. Then I would pressure wash to remove salt, mud, and other contaminants followed by a liberal spraying with the WD40. This should clean it up and stop any corrosion by displacing the water.

wiring diagram

I just obtained a 1972 Powermatic Model 90 from a lumberyard and am converting the 3 phase motor to a single phase. Does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for this thing? The manual which I downloaded contains nothing about wiring.

From everything I've seen (admittedly limited), you can't change phases by re-wiring the motor like switching 110 to 220. You'll need to either use a rotary phase converter or a VFD (giving you variable speed) or replace the motor with a single-phase. Suspect a used 1-phase motor will be the cheaper alternative.

I'm not a very good question asker, I guess. Here's where I am. I pulled the 3 phase motor and installed a new single phase. In attempting to wire the thing in, I noticed wiring in a conduit running up from the starter into the head stock. Not wanting to disassemble the entire thing, I want to know what this goes to. If not for that wiring, it appears that I could bypass the starter altogether and wire directly to the new motor and the on/off switch. I just figured that a wiring diagram would show this. Or maybe someone on the forum knows. Thanks for all the help.
 
Further on this question, I was able to get a wiring diagram directly from the company. They were very helpful. Thanks.
