For health reasons a friend and AAW member is downsizing and is forced to give up his Oneway 2440 lathe. Any thoughts on an appropriate asking price? The lathe has an outboard bed extension with a second banjo, and a main bed extension as shown in the photo. My friend is incapacitated and I plan to help him out posting this item in the Woodturning Market place Forum here and possibly elsewhere.

I'll be spinning in my grave if my kids sell my Oneway 2436 for half price! I know I've paid for it with work I've sold since 1998, but come on! Last one that sold on the Marketplace listing here was listed for $5995.

I'd guess somewhere in the 50-75% of current retail range, depending on condition, local market considerations, and ease of moving. It will sell quickly at the lower end, longer at the upper. Much more quickly if you can deliver it to the customer, more slowly if it needs to be carried up narrow basement stairs and down a 1000 ft potholed gravel driveway to get to a truck. And so on.

That will be the last lathe you ever buy!

Don’t know your local market, but I would think anywhere from $4,000 and $5,500 would get it sold. Tools would probably fetch more money if they got sold separately.

You could advertise a package deal price for the lathe and accessories, sometimes you can find a buyer who is upgrading or starting out willing to purchase a package deal.
Selling each item takes up a lot of time with multiple phone calls, emails, low ballers etc. You can always split the package up if the price is right for the separate pieces.
Whoever purchases the lathe will most likely need accessories for that size of lathe and the spindle thread.
