Record Power Cornet Herald

It looks good, but a couple things are pushing me more toward the Envoy. That tailstock...YUCK!!

The tailstock design caught my eye also. I'm looking more for an 18" lathe right now myself so I looked at the Regent first. The Regent's tailstock looks a bit fragile like it was designed by an artist, not an engineer. The smaller ones weren't as bad but still looked more styled that engineered.

Didn't look really close to it to compare to anything but I also don't like the access to change the belt position.

Have you joined any of the Record Power IRDs from Theo in Australia or Andrew in UK. Not sure which Record lathe they are using but could be the Coronet Herald. Next broadcast is tomorrow. You need to send an email to register. Can PM to you if you want.

I have used the Coenet for over 2 years. Its never let me down in anyway. I like the easy indexing system, the best system I have ever used. As a full time tuner the size is good for everyday items, yes I have a larger lathe for itms over 14" in dia. Hope this helps.

No there is not. I am concerned over the quality of or lack of quality in the made in China lathes.Particulary the electronics and bearings.
